The imperative is growing for businesses in all sectors, facing significant strategic risks associated with climate change and biodiversity collapse, to build out new capabilities and business models that contribute to accelerated decarbonisation, climate resilience, just transition and environmental regeneration. Climate related strategic risk includes opportunity cost in a context of major market transformations, stimulated by leading European Union initiatives designed to achieve decarbonisation of Europe’s economy and industry at least 6x faster than anything that has been achieved so far. Proactive climate and sustainability action presents strategic opportunities for all businesses. However, innovation approaches need to be fit for purpose to achieve that. Dr. Kirsten Dunlop, Chief Executive Officer, EIT Climate-KIC will explore what that means and what it requires during this presentation.
Dr. Kirsten Dunlop is Chief Executive Officer at EIT Climate-KIC, Europe’s largest public-private partnership focused on climate innovation. A creative, energetic and inspirational leader, she brings to her role a deep conviction in our capacity to learn and evolve into a climate-resilient society, and her over 30 years of experience catalyzing systemic transformations in a career spanning academia, consulting, banking, and the insurance industry, across three continents.
